Description
The course is a basic introduction to this topic; it uses mathematical skills to produce a flat basic block that will fit a pre-determined size body. We start our course making flat pattern blocks for children, however, for simpler garments the same principles apply for adults.
• This course is for leaners who wish to be able to develop skills making paper patterns for sewing
• We explore the simple shapes and how to make pattern blocks which can be used as a base for designing own garments
• How to use a curved measuring ruler for adding seam allowance as well as drawing curves
• We do practical exercises where we make a set of blocks
• We discuss the main principles of body shape and movement and how this affects the pattern
It is a great starting point that can lead on to more complicated garments and techniques and can lead onto the Level 1 Sewing Techniques qualification
