Description

Requires and initial Assessment to determine correct level of study.

Aimed at those wishing to improve their English skills and gain new qualifications and have completed the intro to Functional Skills Level 1 course.

Each of the six QCF Ascentis English units is specifically designed to enable learners to develop and improve different skill areas:

Spelling: learners are taught how to use spelling strategies to help them spell words used in work and daily life correctly

Grammar and Punctuation: learners are taught how to use grammar and punctuation correctly

Speaking and Listening: learners are taught the importance of attentive listening skills and how to speak confidently, about complex topics as well as everyday issues, in both formal and informal settings

Responding to Information: learners are taught active listening skills and how to respond appropriately to information

Reading: learners are taught how to read and understand a variety of texts and how to use different reading strategies – skimming, scanning and reading for detail

Writing: learners are taught how to write and create different texts that are fit for purpose using formal and informal language appropriately e.g. CV writing, letters of application etc. All learners receive recognized Ascentis award qualifications on successful completion of the course.
